Almound Vernon “Dood” White of Lonoke, AR passed away April 28, 2023 at Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on August 29, 1939 in Scranton, AR where he became a standout basketball player for Scranton High School his senior year.
Vernon retired from Firestone to become a business owner and entrepreneur with White Enterprises, putting his long list of handy-man capabilities to good use. There was truly no problem he could not fix. He enjoyed playing in the garden, feeding birds and squirrels, watching Razorback football, Gunsmoke, and drinking a cup of black coffee with dessert every day. He was a proud veteran and sharp shooter in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Pam Turney White, daughter Janelle Ulrich of Russellville, son Damon White (Lakin) of Atkins, step daughter Courtney Cantrell of Maumelle, and grandchild Kaylee Chambers of the home, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his brother Don (Melba) White of Mabelvale, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by sons Edward White and Almound Vernon White, siblings Sonny White and Patsy Tankersley, grandson Logan White, and his parents Otis and Edith White.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Higden-McLehaney Cemetery in Greers Ferry, AR. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Online guestbook www.boydfuneralhome.net
