Barbara Lee Bell

Barbara Lee Bell, 84, passed away peacefully, December 20, 2023 after an extended illness. Barbara was born August 25,1939 in Shady Springs, West Virginia to father Rufus Orville Martin and mother Sarah Ilene Martin. She was a true coal miner’s daughter.

Barbara spent 47 years in San Antonio, Texas, where she retired from Southwestern Bell. The San Antonio Spurs have lost one of their biggest fans, as she loved cheering them on! She loved sewing and knitting baby blankets for her family, friends and neighbors, along with camping adventures with her dear friends Wilma and Fabian Pawlik, and getting together with her neighbors for wild games of Lotería.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her sister Clara Crawford

Barbara leaves behind her loving companion Harlan Acker; sister, Edith Stanton; son Mark Bell; daughter, Rhonda Anderson (Galen); grandsons, Zachary Childers, Matthew Bell and Mason Martin; granddaughters, Tracy Childers, Rachel Ilene Martin, and Kara Elizabeth Martin, along with five great grandchildren.

Her last two months were spent in Lonoke, Arkansas surrounded by family. True to her roots, she requested that her ashes be strewn on Swell Mountain in West Virginia.
