Barbara Robertson

September 26, 1939 — August 17, 2021

Dallas, Texas

Barbara Joan Robertson, age 81, passed away on the 17th of August with her sons by her side. The daughter of Paul Wesley Gibbs and Antionette Elizabeth Gibbs, she was born on September 26, 1939, in New York City, New York. She worked in New York City at Mobil Oil where she met and fell in love with handsome bachelor Lloyd Bain Robertson.  There they started their life journey and married on December 3, 1966, and had two boys John Prescott and Andrew Lloyd. They later moved to Dallas, Texas where they raised their family.

Barbara was a loving and devoted wife to Lloyd for nearly 55 years, proud mother to her Eagle Scout sons John and Andrew, precious mother-in-law to Michelle, and loving grandmother to Mia, Liam, and Noah. Her family and friends were her pride and joy.  As she once said, “Family and friendships remain cherished as we uphold one another in all seasons of life.”

Barbara was fondly known to many as kind, giving, enthusiastic, conscientious, loyal, and compassionate.  She had the magic touch, bringing joy to all. She was especially passionate about giving her time to the elderly and children. As a member of Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas for 46 years, Barbara held a variety of positions from president of the Presbyterian Woman, the choir, chairman of the church sponsored Meals on Wheels, to being active in the Altar Guild. She was not only active in church activities but was a deeply committed Christian. She believed in serving the Lord by sharing her God-given time and talents and always believed in the power of prayer.

As a gifted, creative writer and actress, Barbara was the primary playwright of “BARDOT PRODUCTIONS”. Alongside friend, Dottie Freeman, they produced many skits and presentations for church groups, community programs, family, and friends, in celebration of various holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, and other special occasions.  Appearing as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Patti Pumpkin, Rabbi, Pastor, various Bible characters, Mother Earth, and Precious Jade, to name a few, her characterizations were one of a kind.

Lloyd and Barbara were seasoned, international travelers, jetting, and cruising around the world, spanning all seven continents.  Barbara kept travel journals highlighting their adventures in detail, including pictures and memorabilia, all to the delight of family and friends. She wrote in one of her journals, “Oh, the places we’ve been! Love to go. Love to come home. Treasured memories for a lifetime!”

Barbara knew what it was to enjoy life to the fullest, her smile and laughter were contagious. She had a heart full of love and always gave the best hugs. She will be missed by many.
