Clarice Janice Lackie

January 6, 1928 — September 14, 2023

North Little Rock

Clarice Lackie went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was 95.

Born Clarice Janice Martin to Eloise Rebecca and Lawrence Martin on January 6, 1928, in Carlisle, Arkansas, she was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary Academy and a member of First Baptist Church of Carlisle.

Clarice married her one great love, William Alec Lackie, and the two raised three daughters. Her family and her friends were her entire world.

“Nannie’s” love language was food and she was famous for her breakfasts, macaroni and cheese, liverwurst, lemon cookies, chocolate and coconut cream pies and sweet tea. She loved cooking Sunday dinners for her extended family and was a canasta card-sharp, never “letting” any of her grandchildren win.

She loved listening to good music, dancing, cheering on the Arkansas Razorback basketball team and watching her shows.  She had a witty sense of humor that always showed up in unexpected moments.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter, Jeannette Thurman; sister, Dorothy Hagan; brother Bill (Clarice Sue) Martin; great grandson, Cory Eslick; and her parents.

She leaves fond memories behind with daughters Rebecca (Randal) and Marilyn; son-in-law, Ben Thurman; grandchildren John, Kara (Rand), Phillip (Mandy), Blair (Chris), Matt (Diana), and Emily (Averie); and great grandchildren Ty, Kayla, Jacob, Grant, Noa, Avery, Hayden, Grace, Elliette, Lena, Hollis, Parker and Amos.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 19, at 11 am at Carlisle Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Rand Marsden, Chris Seelye, Ty Golleher, Jacob Marsden, Matt Henley and Averie Summers. Phillip Golleher will serve as honorary pallbearer.  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Carlisle.

The family sends a special thanks to Gentiva hospice Little Rock and Robinson nursing home in North Little Rock.

Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
