Cynthia Ann Jackson, 76 of Lonoke, AR went home to be with our Lord on Friday, January 14th, 2022, at home, peacefully, in Lonoke surrounded by loved ones and her beloved fur babies.
Cynthia, or Cindy as many knew her, was born December 7, 1946, also at the same home site in Lonoke to the late Leo Raymond and Emma Nadine Schafer. She was the youngest of three children. Two brothers, Jerry Schafer and Bennie Ray Schafer of Lonoke, and one grandchild, Nicholas Wesley Jackson, preceded her in death.
Cynthia married James Edward “Jim” Jackson in 1973 and they raised sons, Christopher O’Neal Jackson born in 1971 and James Brandon Jackson born in 1975.
Cynthia was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Lonoke. Cynthia was a graduate of Lonoke High School and of Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA). She touched the lives of many as a professional educator and later in education administration. She dearly loved animals and had many her entire life. She and Jim ran and still run an animal rescue from their home with most (ok, all) of the animals having been personally adopted.
She was a wonderfully kind, funny and loving member of her community, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Quite simply, “To know her, was to love her.”
Cynthia leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband of 48 years, James Edward “Jim” Jackson; her three sons Larry Wayne Jones, of Lonoke, Christopher O’Neal Jackson, of Cabot and James Brandon Jackson, of Lonoke; two grandchildren, Leeza Katherine and Max Ethan of Cabot, her sister-in-law Sharon Ann Hillman and husband Bob of Carlisle, brother-in-law William Alden “Billy” Jackson and wife Kelly of Denton, TX and sister-in-law Nellie Ann Schafer of Little Rock, 10 fur babies and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Lonoke on Thursday, January 20th. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. before the service at the church. Graveside service will immediately follow at the Lonoke cemetery.
