Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Geneva Lorraine Evans, departed from her temporary home on March 31, 2020 at the young age of 80.
Geneva was born to Herman and Onnie (Wheatherly) Whitehurst on May 29, 1939 in Des Arc, Arkansas. She graduated from Fuller High School in Little Rock. While bowling with friends one evening, she met Merle Evans and fell in love. They wed on June 26, 1967. They spent 43 loving years together.
She is survived in death by to her two sons Carlton (JoAnn) Young and Ronald (Janice) Evans both of Lonoke; her grandchildren: Crystal (Matt) Lewis, Kala (Brian) Raper, Brennon Ingle, and Audrey Evans; and great-grandchildren: Brileigh, Emma, Kallie, Brian, Gage, Cooper, and Lydia. Geneva is also survived by her two siblings, Faye Young of Bryant and Herman Whitehurst Jr. of Lonoke, and a slew of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Onnie, and her loving husband, Merle.
In her time here on earth, Geneva was a proud example of what a wife, mother, and friend should be. She knew the precious value of family and would do anything for hers. The legacy that she has left behind will never be forgotten and will continue to be cherished by those that loved her dearly.
A memorial to celebrate Geneva's life will be Friday, April 3 at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon at Wattensaw Baptist Church on Highway 31 in Lonoke, Arkansas. All services will take place outside.
