Irene Stack, age 92, of Carlisle, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Irene was born March 2, 1927 to Osher and Sophie Goldberg at 249 Broome, Manhattan, New York.
She was the youngest of four siblings, Sylvia, Sam, and Lucille, yet she was the most precocious, outspoken, and born for the stage. While starring in a play at The City College of New York, she solicited the help of the editor of the college newspaper to publicize the show. That editor, Irwin “Bosh” Stack, became her husband and one true love. It was no surprise that Irene and the play made front page, it was in her nature to succeed.
The blissful couple married in 1950 and started their own thriving public relations business. In the subsequent years, their love for life and each other was personified in their three children: Geri, Brian, and Adam. After a few more years in New York, the family relocated to sunny South Florida where they spent many decades raising their children and further growing their business.
Irene, never one to shy away from a challenge, battled and survived two bouts of breast cancer, allowing her to craft more joy and memories with family and friends over the next 50 years. Nicknamed “Mamo” by her grandchildren, she had a zest for life unparalleled by most and an intellectual curiosity rivaled by few. She could make you feel like the most special person in the room and her infectious laughter would only reaffirm that fact.
Irene was an accomplished sculptor, painter, and published author, though she would take even more pride in being a loving mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Irwin "Bosh" and son, Adam Mark. She is survived by daughter, Geri Wolff (Malcolm), son, Brian (Cynthia), and daughter-in-law, Letha. Grandchildren, Kyle (Dani), Seth, Sarah (Jason), Jacob, Taylor, Olivia, and great-grandchild, Gabriel.
A graveside service will be held at Hamilton Cemetery, south of Carlisle, at 10 am on Friday, July 12, 2019.
