Cabot

Jack was born August 11, 1928, to James Obert Fitzhugh and Edna Ophelia Brown Fitzhugh. At the age of 96, Jack moved to his Heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Fitzhugh; siblings,Walter Fitzhugh, Virginia Schneider and Bert Fitzhugh; son-in-law, George McLean Sr.; son, Jack Fitzhugh Jr.; daughters, Lucy Six and Jenni Raines; grandson, Jack Fitzhugh III; and granddaughter, Allysa Six.

Jack was survived by his wife, Margie Fitzhugh; sister, Dorothy Davidson; sister-in-law, Gloria Fitzhugh; sister, Lea (Mike) Robertson; daughters, Suzanne McLean and Amy (Gaylon) Pearson; daughter-in-law, Pam Fitzhugh; son-in-law, Bill Six Sr.; son-in-law, Brian Raines, Roy (Shirla) Moody and Davy (Joyce) Moody; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Jack joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served for 4 years. After serving in the Navy, he married Maxine Choat. The couple was married for over 50 years and had 5 children. Jack accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was 23 years old. Jack and Maxine vowed to build their marriage and raise the children on the firm foundation of their faith. They stayed true to their promise and raised their family in church. He was a faithful servant of his Lord and faithfully attended each service at New Testament Baptist Church until his health prohibited him. He served as deacon at both Bethel Baptist Church and New Testament Baptist Church for over 50 years. He loved his Lord first and his family next.

After serving in the United States Navy, Jack had several “jobs”, but he found his passion in the field of masonry. He began his career as a concrete mason in 1953 and finished his last slab in 2016. He also loved sports of all types, but his favorite sport was slow-pitch softball which he played as a youth into his mid-80s where he played senior slow-pitch softball. After his softball career he discovered golf…….

We are grateful for the 96 years this world was blessed with his presence. “Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into rest”.
