James Alfred Benson, Sr., 84, of Lonoke, Arkansas, passed away, December 19, 2022. He was born March 23, 1938, in Roland, Arkansas to the late Robert Lee and Bertha Lee (Pates) Benson.
He served in the U.S. Army. In 1988, James built his home in Furlow, AR. He started his own business framing houses, work which he continued to do most of his life.
Most days, James Alfred could be found having a meal and flirting with the waitresses at his favorite restaurant. He had a unique sense of humor. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather.
Along with his parents, he was preceded by his son James Alfred Benson, Jr., four sisters Katie, Myrtle Forrester, Jenny Bell, Ruby Shewmake, and four brothers Lige, Loyd, Isaac, Virgil 'Dub' Lee.
He is survived by his son, Stephen Benson (Sherri) of Furlow, AR; daughter Janet White of Sardis, AR, one sister, Thelma Herndon, of Roland, AR, nine grandchildren Brandy, Billy (Jamie) White, Shaina Tippitt, Brittany (Billy) Sullivan, Stephen, Stephanie, Peyton, Jessica, and Jenny Benson, eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Kennerly Cemetery, Roland, Arkansas. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Boyd Funeral Home
