John E. Boyette, Sr., 95, of North Little Rock, formerly of Carlisle, died January 18, 2013 following a brief illiness. He was born on August 26, 1917 and lived
in Carlisle, Arkansas most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Flo, and is survived by sons, John E. Boyette, Jr.(Greta) of North Little Rock and Jerrell R. Boyette (Sharon) of Lonoke; grandchildren, Julie (Riley) Shearin of Rogers and Jennings (Brittany) Boyette of Little Rock and two great-grandchildren, John Riley Shearin and Mary Caroline Boyette. (These two brought a sparkle to his eyes!)
John Graduated from Carlisle High School and served in the Navy during World War II. He worked for Young’s Department Stores for many years.
In 1964 he opened John’s (Boyette) Furniture in Carlisle. After his retirement and loss of his wife, he volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock for several years. He had lived in North Little Rock since 1997, the last four years at Premier Health & Rehabilitation.
He will be remembered for his love for his family and especially how much he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very fond of his nieces and nephews, and John, Jr. and Greta’s nieces Krystal and Charla.
His hobbies included model railroading and stamp collecting. John led an active life, he enjoyed camping, traveling and gardening. He read the newspaper everyday until the week of his death.
John was a longtime member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church. A graveside memorial service at the Carlisle Cemetery by Rev. Larry Martineau of Lonoke United Methodist Church will be Monday, January 21 at 2:00 pm.
Jerrell and his family thank his brother John for his devoted care of their dad and grandfather for the last years of his life.
