Johnny Pledger, 73, of Lonoke, born August 16, 1939 passed away January 10, 2013. Johnny was an Army Veteran and retired from Remington Arms after 35 years of service. He broke and trained Quarter horses, enjoyed showing them and loved to spend his Saturday nights at horse shows with his family. He enjoyed attending church at New Hope Baptist where he had a great love for his church family. He was a dedicated father and grandfather. Known as everyone’s Popaw, he loved to babysit after his retirement in 2005. Johnny was preceded in death by his father Octie Pledger, mother Josephine Turner, step-mother Elizabeth Pledger and mother-in-law Gladys McCollum. He is survived by his wife of 521/2 years Joyce Pledger, two daughters Pam Lewellyn and Renee Haynes of Lonoke, four grandchildren Jeri Beth (Matt) Edwards, Stephanie Lewellyn, Peyton (Nick) Sansom, and Delaney Haynes, three great-grandchildren, Chandler and Bailey Jo Edwards and Noah Sansom, three sisters Beulah McCommon, Betty Billings and Laverne (Jerry) Grissom and many other relatives. Visitation will be Friday 6-8pm at Boyd Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 12, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church with burial following in New Hope Cemetery.
