Louis Carpenter

Louis Wayne “Rooster” Carpenter, 73, of Lonoke, Arkansas, took his heavenly journey to be with the Lord on April 14, 2023. He passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side.

Wayne was born on April 17, 1949, to Louis E. Carpenter and Betty Jane Bearden.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings; Kenneth Bearden, Troy Carpenter and Joyce Ann Pittman; Daughter, Wendy Carpenter and as well as a niece and two nephews.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vera Sue Carpenter; sisters Emma Haney (Rick) and Martha Jane Sanders; Aunt Mary Thate and a special Aunt, Birtha “Sis” Larkan who raised him.

Wayne enjoyed the outdoors. He was fond of fishing especially if enough fish were caught to have a fish fry.  Together, he and Vera raised numerous gardens over the years.  Sharing rewards of the harvest with many.  They were known to show up with a delicious meal prepared from these vegetables just when needed. He found great happiness in tinkering in his shop on items he purchased at auctions.  He could tell you exactly how much money he had invested in each piece. In earlier years, he liked to stay busy and assisted others with projects using his carpentry skills.

The family would like to express much appreciation to the staff of Baptist Hospice for the compassion and guidance given to us and our loved one as he made this transition. A special thank you to Nurse Ellen, Nurse Danielle and CNA Laquilla.

The service will be officiated over by Bro. Freddie McCann.  The family would like to thank the pallbearers serving; Mike Nikirk, Donald Ray Sanders, Cody Carpenter, Clint Chapman,  Jeff Anderson and Grant Warner.

The graveside service will be at 2:00pm Monday, April 17, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Gardens located at 1590 US-70, Lonoke.  Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.  Online guestbook www.boydfuneralhome.net
