Matthew Carl James

Our father, Matthew “Matt” Carl James, 53, of Tampa, Florida, suddenly passed away April 1, 2024. 

Matt was born July 31, 1970, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Arthur James and Gracie (Porter) Byrd. A beloved father, grandfather, friend, and an all-around beautiful soul, his infectious smile and laugh always brought people so much joy and happiness. His passion and integrity for those he loved was unwavering. 

Matt lived life to the absolute fullest. Growing up in the 80s, he loved jamming out to classic rock, playing basketball, and spending every Saturday golfing with his best friends. 

Matt always wanted to live in Florida. He accomplished that dream in 2019 and has been there ever since! The ocean always made him happy, and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts. 

Matt was employed at Nvirotect Pest Control Services of Tampa, Fla. for almost 4 years. His dedication and drive will always be admired and appreciated by his fellow friends and co-workers. Every one of them will cherish the times spent with him, either in the yard or office.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his grandparents Arthur B. and Lottie Mae James and Albert and Ruth Porter; several beloved uncles and aunts; and many others who are missed.

He is survived by his son William (Hannah) James of Searcy, Ark.; his daughter Alexius (Cedric) Walker of Lonoke, Ark.; his grandchildren Bryson and Ella Mae of Lonoke, Ark.; his brother Arthur James of Cabot, Ark.; his sisters Connie James of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ashley (Zach) Pharr of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a host of family, friends, and loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at First Lonoke Assembly of God on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., 1763 Front St SW, Lonoke, Ark. 72086.
