Maxine McGarity Finch, born to the late Jim and Alma Cupp McGarity on January 17, 1925 died on March 5, 2019 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bennie Finch, her parents, and sisters, Norine Colclasure, Louise Wilson, Kathryn Haury and Emma Jean Johnson. Maxine was an active member of Concord United Methodist Church and adult Sunday School Class and past president of United Methodist Women. She was always willing to help whenever there was an activity going on. Mrs. Finch retired after 35 years with Mutual of New York Insurance. After retiring from Mutual of New York she worked about 4 years with Duch Irrigation and then about 10 years with Lonoke County Government in the Treasurer’s office. Maxine was a woman of faith, always giving of herself and made others feel welcome. She gave her whole heart with everything she did. Her specialty was chicken and dumplings. In fact she was known in some places as the “Dumpling Queen.” She is survived by her daughter, Janice McCall and her husband, Bob; granddaughter, Molly McCall Thompson and her husband, Matt; sister-in-law, Anna Woody; brother-in-law, Ellis Finch and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at Concord United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019. Visitation will be at the church family life center from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Concord United Methodist Church or Concord Cemetery, 150 Concord Church Rd., Lonoke, AR 72086, American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Ave., Little Rock, AR 72207 or American Diabetes Association, 320 Executive Court, Little Rock, AR 72205. The family will be at 319 W Pine, Lonoke, AR.
