Mildred Hughes

Mildred Gray Hughes, 88, of Carlisle, Arkansas, joined Jesus in Heaven on March 26, 2023.

Ms. Mil or Milly, as she was affectionately known by most, was a wonderful wife, dedicated mother, beloved friend, devout Christian, and the best Nana you could have asked for. She had a huge heart and spent most of her life making a home and taking care of others. On any given day, you could catch her with a house full of company, gabbin' over a pot of coffee. She thoroughly enjoyed visiting, was sure to welcome you with a hug, and would wave 'bye until she couldn't see you. She had an unconditional amount of love and comfort to give, never missing an opportunity to do so.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Clara Hunt; brothers, Arthur and H.E. Hunt; first husband, Thomas Chance; second husband, Jackie Hughes; and children, Glenda Chance-Moudy, Glen and Patty Chance, and Bertie Chance; and stepson; Stephen Hughes.

She leaves cherishing her memory, sister, Vela Hodkin; nephew, Patrick Hodkin; children, Curt Chance, Jimmy (Regina) Chance, Shannon (Aaron) Bray, Melissa Chance (Dawn Smith), and Steve Moudy; step-children, Amanda (Mark) Hughes, Sandy (Tony) Adams, and Tim (Shannon) Hughes; grandchildren, Ashley (Zac), Hannah (David), Angel (Donnie), Kaden, and Karson, Zack, Amber, Elizabeth, Alex, Hunter, Marina, and Stacy; great-grandchildren, Connor, Riley, Emery, Maisie, Emilia, and Robert; and an abundance of  family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Boyd Funeral home in Lonoke, Arkansas. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle. Burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery.
