Nola Lucille Parsley Summar departed this life July 21, 2023. She was 84 years old. Born November 18, 1938 to Ray and Ada Austin Parsley in Moro, Arkansas. She lived all her early life in this small farming community in eastern Arkansas, graduating from Moro High School in 1956.
She married John Summar in 1957 and they moved to Little Rock. After living in Little Rock for 13 years where she worked in Life Insurance, they were transferred to Pine Bluff, with John’s job. While living in Pine Bluff, she worked for Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Co. from 1973 to 1993. She retired early due to poor health with rheumatoid arthritis.
She was always involved with her church wherever she lived. Teaching Sunday school classes, both youth and adult. Working with the youth, served on many committees, and was a “counter” of money on Monday morning after the offerings were taken on Sunday. She loved the Lord and her family dearly.
She was pre-deceased by her parents; an infant child; two sisters and their husbands, Lois Stewart and T.J. Stewart and Clara Cole and Clifton Cole; both brothers, Harold R. Parsley and Robert L Parsley.
She leaves behind, her husband, John; daughter, Gayle (Woody) Moon; son, Jason (Shelly) Summar; five grandchildren, Barrett (Jamie) Moon, Mallory Moon, Jon (Leanna) Moon, Ashlynn Summar and Anna Summar; five great-grands, Fletcher Moon, Athena Grace Moon, Bodie Moon, Fisher Moon and Timber Jean Moon; one sister, Marilyn (Benny) Floyd; one neice; four nephews; and one sister-in-law, Betty Parsley.
She enjoyed good music and was an avid reader. She loved to work puzzles (crossword, jig-saw, word search, etc.). In her early days when she was well, she enjoyed camping with the family, the children’s and grandchildren’s ball games and activities. She cherished the time she got to spend with the little great-grands and was known to the grands and great-grands as “GRAMS”.
Serving as pallbearers are two grandsons, Barrett Moon and Jon Moon, four nephews, Mike Parsley, Todd Parsley, Randy Parsley, and Terry Floyd and great nephew Danny Stewart.
Special thanks to Melisssa Hight at the Hight House in Conway, Arkansas. Her care and compassion in the care of Lucille (mom) will forever be remembered and appreciated.
