Phyllis Rose Hillman

December 8, 1941 — August 30, 2023

Carlisle

Phyllis Rose Hillman, aged 81, passed away on August 30, 2023, in Rockwall, Texas. She was born to Daisy Elliot Heffington and Horace Gentry on December 8, 1941, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Phyllis can now be reunited with her loving husband, Jacob "Eddie" Edwin Hillman.

Phyllis was a beloved member and business owner in the Carlisle community. She dedicated her life to serving others and was a devout member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church. In addition to her commitment to her faith, Phyllis also served on the Carlisle School Board, advocating for the education and well-being of local students. After a long and fulfilling career, she retired from the University of Arkansas Medical Science.

Phyllis was not only known for her dedication to her community and her faith but also for her love of quilting. She won the blue ribbon for quilting at the Arkansas State Fair, which was a testament to her passion for the craft. In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed playing cards with her friends, reading books, tending to her flower garden, and going out to lunch with family. She was also very fond of her four-legged companions and enjoyed spending time with them when she wasn't with her grandchildren. Phyllis will always remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Michael Hillman and his wife, Rebecca; her grandchildren, Jacob Hillman, Grace Collins and Joe Collins; along with her bonus children and grandchildren, the many cousins and close friends she considered part of her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her father, Horrace; her mother, Daisy and stepfather, Adolph F. Heffington.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Carlisle First United Methodist Church, with visitation beginning at 9:00am. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Carlisle Cemetery, where they will rest in peace under the watchful eyes of the Lord. In leu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the American Heart Association.  www.heart.org
