Shirley Roland

Shirley Ann Roland, 82, of Lonoke, went to be with her heavenly father on July 13, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. She was born to Homer and Willie Cole on October 23, 1936. She was the baby sister of Clifton and Robert Cole. On October 22, 1954, Shirley married the love of her life George W. Roland and together they had four children Pam, Paula, Jimmy and Jeff. They remained happily married for 36 years until George lost his battle to cancer. Through all of the good times and bad her best friend that she considered a sister, Harletia Howe was right beside her until the end. After George passed, Shirley later met her 2nd love and companion of 27 years, Arthur McGraw. Together they watched 10 grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, John Ryan, Zack, Amber, Bruce, Eric, Lindsey and Cassidy and 6 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Maddison, Tatum, Connor, Collin and Odin play and grow. Their love of fishing lead them to move to Wright on the Arkansas River, until 6 years ago when Shirley’s health began to fail. During this time the children and grandchildren rallied around to help with the care of their beloved mother and grandmother. Shirley’s loving personality impacted many and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to offer their sincere thanks for the loving care given by the staff of Lonoke Health and Rehab. Our sadness at no longer having her here is lessened in knowing that she is reunited in heaven with her loved ones and we look forward to joining her one day. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, George W. Roland, parents, Homer and Willie Cole, brothers, Clifton and Robert Cole, grandson, Jeremy Randall and great-grandsons, Colin and Trey Campbell. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, children, Pam (Les) Nakasue, Paula (Johnny) Cater, Jeff (Tammy) Roland and Jimmy Roland; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her 2nd love, Arthur McGraw; best friend, Harletia Howe and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
