Thelma Cannon

Life’s Journey

Thelma Cooney Cannon was born June 28, 1926 in Wattensaw, Arkansas to the late Alexander and Gertrude Cooney. Thelma confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Macedonia Baptist Church. After moving to Hazen, she united with Prairie Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to the late Thomas Cannon. Thelma was a Domestic Engineer and loved helping anyone. Even though Thelma was ninety seven years old, she was very sharp and didn't mind speaking her mind.

God sent His Angel November 17, 2023, to Springhill Baptist Hospital to retrieve the soul of His beloved daughter.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Cannon; children, Johnny, Ollie Mae and Louise; granddaughter,  Shirley; brothers, A.J. Cooney, Hendeson ( Baby Ray), Claudie, Robert, and one sister Ardia Briggs.

She leaves to cherish her memories, grandchildren, Kelly Jo, Sylvester, Lamont, Ramona, Lesia, Clinton and a host of great grands, great great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Mattie Wade.

Thelma also leaves four sisters, Addie Mae Willis, Earlene Cooney, Louella Cooney and Annie Cooney; two btothers, Clarence Cooney and Luther Cooney, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

The family would like to give a special thanks to Thelma’s caregiver, Ms. Reba.
