Haynes Carter

November 20, 1933 — August 23, 2013

Haynes Paul Carter, born November 20, 1933, passed away on August 23, 2013. He was 79 years old. A Christian by faith, Haynes worked as a diesel mechanic, machinist and a farmer. A veteran of the United States Navy, he proudly served his country during the Korean War.
Haynes married Doris Crawford of Humnoke in 1954 and moved to Detroit, Michigan where he was employed by Chevrolet. Upon his return to North Little Rock, Haynes acquired employment with International Harvester and did some farming on the side. The family later settled in Furlow, Arkansas where Haynes opened his own machine shop properly named, “Carter’s Garage”. He enjoyed NASCAR, deer hunting, auto auctions and vacationing in their motor-home. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Roberson Baptist Church. He is survived by his one and only wife of 59 years Doris Carter ; son Jerry (Gail) Carter of Beebe, and daughter Virginia (Jim) Larson of Sherwood.; four grandsons Lee Carter, Brad (Jamie) Carter both of Beebe, Paul Hensley of Lonoke, and Wesley Hensley of Conway; two step-grandsons Erik Larson of Little Rock and Kurt Larson of Maumelle; six great-grandsons Kahil, Kash, and Colt Carter, Beau, Kaleb and Lucas Hensley; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Kimber Carter; brothers, Roland (Roy) Carter of Jacksonville and Jimmie (JW) Carter of Lonoke; sisters Dorris Mathis of Jacksonville and Carmen Colclasure of Carlisle, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Lena and Jim Carter, brothers Marvin Carter, Delward (Putt) Carter, sister Nellie Garringer and granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Hensley. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday from 2-4 pm. Services will be held 2:00 pm on Monday in Boyd Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Hamilton Cemetery.
