In November, 1974, while transporting a patient to a Little Rock hospital, Donald Boyd, 21, was killed in a tragic accident. At the time of his death, he and Mr. Boyd were two of the first EMT graduates in the state of Arkansas. After this tragic incident, the Boyd's sold the flower shop, discontinued the ambulance service, and made the funeral home their main priority.
As the business steadily grew over the next few years, they were able to buy out the funeral home they had originally managed. The original two story building being used for the funeral home office and state rooms was in need of major renovation. Instead, a new office area, state rooms and lobby were built in 1987. The chapel area with seating for 250, was remodeled in 1997, and the display room in 1998. A new arrangement room, lounge and children's room have been added to the back of the building as well as a paved parking lot where the old two story structure once stood.
